Marriage

No need to redefine! Why?

Because God has already defined it!

“…male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (Genesis 1:27-28)

“Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.       (Genesis 1:31)

“…the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.  And Adam said:

This is now bone of my bones
And flesh of my flesh;
She shall be called Woman,
Because she was taken out of Man.”

 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” (Genesis 2:22-24)

“Marriage  (Between one man and one woman) is honourable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.”  (Hebrews 13:4)

Some basic facts about marriage:

  1.  Marriage is ordained by God.
  2.  God brought Eve to Adam. Marriage is a holy union  of companionship between one man and one woman.
  3.  Nature also teaches us this. For example, jungle animals live in pairs of male and female
  4.  Throughout history it has been accepted and practised among all the nations of the world that marriage is between man and woman.
  5.  It is for procreation.
  6.  It is for life.

You may read this leaflet and agree with the definition of marriage as given by God’s Law. That is great, but even greater than this is the Good News of Jesus Christ our Lord. The Good News (the Gospel) is “…the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes…” (Romans 1:16 The Bible) Furthermore we read, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.” (Romans 1:18) We read in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Amen!)
