The Lord Our Shepherd

The Lord Our Shepherd

Psalm 23:1 The Lord is Our shepherd; We shall not want.

The Lord is near to his people in moments of difficulty. In my moment of weakness and sorrow, I know that God is near and tender towards me. He plans and controls all my days and when I feel weak I can rely on the guidance care and intercession of Christ. Just because the day starts rough doesn’t mean it ends in the same way.

My God gives me trials so I can lean on him and wrestle with faith. The lord is a leading shepherd like a guiding lamp. Pointing the way forward to hope and peace. I cannot see the end of the road but he has promised that the destination is a place of no more tears and sorrow. The world is full of pain of people in places of difficulties and loneliness but for those who look outside of themselves to a God who has acted in times past. A God who has come and died a death which only he could die to rescue those who have faith in him, there is a solid peace. Unmoved and unchanged.

The grace and salvation of the Lord Jesus is for his people, for me, for you if you keep him always in your mind. Even if we fall and sin and fail, God doesn’t throw us away or allow his sheep to fall of a cliff, rather he restores and comforts. He is the God who FORGIVES again and again. Never let the present sorrow mask away the eternal promise of divine compassion and companionship.

I am poor and needy, yet the Lord thinks of me. You are poor and needy yet God in his grace he thinks of you. Look up to the Hill from where comes the Grace and Help of God and he will lead like a faithful shepherd to heavens rest.

-Henry
